Maggie Mejia, MRC, LPCC

Maggie Mejia serves as Director of Intensive Outpatient for the treatment of addictions at the Lindner Center of Hope. She provides screening and assessments for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Maggie facilitates group and individual psychotherapy sessions.
Prior to attending Wright State University for graduate school, Maggie studied addiction sciences at the University of Cincinnati. She became an advocate for Families of Addicts (FOA) and was involved with adaptive recreation while in college. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science, she worked in community mental health. She then went on to pursue her Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Maggie completed her master’s degree in 2016 and obtained professional licensure in vocational counseling, substance use counseling, and licensed professional counseling for mental health.
Serving the community has been an ongoing passion of Maggie’s. She has maintained engagement in local initiatives for recovery, mental health, and social needs. Advocacy continues to be a priority for Maggie through Hamilton County’s Great Parks, FOA, and PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).
Professionally, she worked for the state of Ohio’s Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation providing vocational counseling to people with disabilities. She went on to join Dayton Children’s Hospital as a mental health therapist. Maggie maintained private practice in addition to her role at Children’s. Maggie has worked in outpatient, inpatient, community based, and schools. She values a person-centered approach. Maggie makes it a priority to meet each person where they are on their journey to health and wellness. Maggie uses a combination of theoretical approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma focused CBT, dialectical behavior therapy, psychoanalytic, motivational enhancement, and other methods of clinical, evidence-based practices.
Maggie specializes in the treatment of substance use disorders, trauma, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders.
