Dr. Dowdy is the Chief of Psychological Services and Clinical Director of Outpatient Services at Lindner Center of Hope, as well as an Associate Professor of Clinical-Geo at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. In his leadership role, he oversees psychologists, neuropsychologists, and therapists who provide care across the Center. He also directs the Center’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) programs, while managing a robust outpatient program with nearly 80 clinicians serving the Cincinnati area and beyond.

A recognized expert in Motivational Interviewing, Dr. Dowdy specializes in helping adults struggling with long-term behavioral change, particularly those facing difficulties launching into independence. He also works closely with families navigating mental health and substance use challenges. As a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), he conducts training sessions across the Midwest, helping healthcare professionals become more effective change agents. Additionally, he consults with executives, addressing substance use, mental health, and stress-related issues that impact leadership and work performance.

Before joining Lindner Center of Hope, Dr. Dowdy served as a Clinical Administrator at Summit Behavioral Healthcare in Cincinnati, where he led an inpatient group therapy program. He also worked as a staff psychologist at Summit, providing therapy, psychological assessments, and competency evaluations, while overseeing a training program for doctoral psychology students.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Dowdy was a Clinical Coordinator at a community mental health center, offering psychological services to individuals, families, and couples. In this role, he also served as a forensic evaluator for the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center.
