Supporting Identity, Connection, and Mental Wellness: Lindner Center of Hope Promotes LGBTQIA+ Adult Support Group

As communities across the country celebrate Pride Month and recognize the resilience, contributions, and diversity of LGBTQIA+ individuals, Lindner Center of Hope is reaffirming its commitment to creating safe, inclusive spaces that support mental health and well-being.

Research consistently shows that LGBTQIA+ individuals face unique mental health challenges, often stemming from experiences of discrimination, stigma, social isolation, and barriers to affirming care. At the same time, strong social connections, supportive communities, and opportunities for authentic self-expression can serve as powerful protective factors that foster resilience and emotional well-being.

To help meet this need, Lindner Center of Hope is offering an eight-week LGBTQIA+ Adult Support Group designed specifically for adults ages 18 and older who identify as being on the spectrum of LGBTQIA+ identities.

Facilitated by Jaime Bishop, LPCC-S, the closed-group experience provides participants with a supportive and confidential environment to explore topics including identity, coming out, mental health, coping skills, relationships, navigating discrimination, resilience, and pride and self-acceptance. The program is designed to foster meaningful connection while helping participants strengthen their sense of self and community.

“One of the most important aspects of mental wellness is feeling seen, understood, and connected,” said Jaime Bishop. “This group creates a space where individuals can share experiences, learn from one another, and build supportive relationships while exploring the unique challenges and strengths that come with their identities.”

The group meets virtually via Zoom on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., making participation accessible for individuals throughout the region. The next session begins June 24, 2026.

At Lindner Center of Hope, we believe that every person deserves compassionate, evidence-based care that honors their lived experiences and supports their journey toward healing and hope. As Pride Month reminds us of the importance of acceptance, visibility, and belonging, we are proud to offer programs that help individuals build resilience, connection, and lasting well-being.
