Neuromodulation Conference Accepts Research Institute Abstract from Lindner Center of Hope Postdoctoral Fellow

An abstract by Phong Phan, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Lindner Center of Hope Research Institute, has been accepted for presentation at the 2026 NYC Neuromodulation Conference — one of the leading academic meetings focused on brain stimulation and neuromodulation research.

The research explores how the body and brain communicate through sensory pathways that help regulate emotions, mood, and the way people process experiences. These pathways may play an important role in conditions such as major depressive disorder (MDD).

The study uses advanced brain-monitoring technology (EEG) and a non-invasive form of spinal stimulation called transcutaneous spinal direct current stimulation (tsDCS) to better understand these pathways and evaluate whether this low-cost neuromodulation approach could help improve symptoms of depression.

The 2026 NYC Neuromodulation Conference will take place July 30 through August 3 in New York City. Since 2013, the conference has become a premier international meeting focused on the science and technology of brain stimulation, brain interfaces, and neuromodulation research.
