Dr. Schweinberg serves as the staff neuropsychologist for the Lindner Center of HOPE. His primary clinical responsibility is the comprehensive neuropsychological testing and assessment of adults and geriatric patients.  He works with the treatment team for Sibcy House, our residential treatment program for adults.  Dr. Schweinberg also provides individual psychotherapy for the outpatient program.

In his work as a neuropsychologist, he has experience in evaluating adults with a history of traumatic brain injury (including concussions), seizure, stroke, chronic substance abuse, as well as evaluating older patients for dementia. He also has experience with evaluating patients who have disorders in attention and learning, assisting them with understanding the unique ways in which they learn and process information. In addition, Dr. Schweinberg has specific interest in the neurocognitive difficulties that are commonly experienced by those with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia and severe mood disorders. He has made scholarly presentations on this topic to clinicians working with the severely mentally ill to help them better understand these deficits and their impact on treatment and recovery.

As a therapist, he has had an outpatient private practice for twenty years, working with adults, children, adolescents and families.  He has provided treatment for a broad range of clinical issues, including depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, anxiety, and trauma.  Dr. Schweinberg also has expertise in forensic psychology, having performed a variety of psychological evaluations for the courts, including capacity to parent, competence to stand trial, evaluations of sanity, detection of malingering and assessment of risk for violence.  Throughout his entire career, Dr. Schweinberg has enjoyed providing clinical supervision to many doctoral students, psychology interns, post-doctoral fellows, as well as teaching and supervising psychiatric nursing students.

Prior to coming to the Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. Schweinberg worked as a neuropsychologist and forensic psychologist for Summit Behavioral Healthcare, a regional psychiatric hospital which treats severe mental illness, most patients having a forensic status secondary to their mental illness. He conducted and supervised many neuropsychological and forensic evaluations, and provided expert testimony to the courts about his findings.  Not only that, but he also worked as the unit psychologist on two of the forensic units, being a part of the treatment team and providing individual and group treatment. Earlier in his career, he served as the Director of Villa Outpatient Services at St. Joseph Orphanage, a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents. He also worked as a consultant for nursing care facilities in the region, providing neuropsychological and personality assessment for residents.  Additionally, Dr. Schweinberg had been the Director of Operations and a practitioner at West Side Psychology Associates, an outpatient private practice in Cincinnati.
