Mr. Schmidt serves as a music therapist at the Lindner Center of Hope. Serving patients across the Center.

He received his bachelor's degree in music therapy at the University of Louisville and completed his internship through Norton Healthcare in Louisville Kentucky. During his internship, he supported children and adults in various settings including mental health and oncology. He also supported patients in the NICU and in hospice care.

His approach and philosophy to music therapy consists of a resource oriented, music centered approach in his practice.

Prior to joining the Lindner Center of Hope, he worked as a lead music therapist and supervisor at Mainstay Music Therapy in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There he supported clients on the Medicaid waiver working on long-term goals focused on psychosocial and motor function needs as well as supporting new therapists in developing their professional identity.

He has presented at a regional American Music Therapy Association conference focused on emotional expression using alternative music to support challenging emotions in clinical settings. He continues to advocate for expanding music therapists' repertoire to be more inclusive for all individuals.
