Valerie Martin oversees the spiritual care program, serving the spiritual & faith needs of patients, families and staff. Her Team meets with patients who want to include spirituality and faith in their ongoing recovery, helps provide for patients’ spiritual and religious requests while at LCOH, and leads Enrichment groups.
Her passion is helping people know their worth and purpose, while developing and maintaining a healthy spirituality that supports recovery and wellness. She focuses on encouraging a holistic approach to good mental health and advocates for healthy community support for patients and families.
Valerie completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education here at the Lindner Center of Hope and at Vineyard Cincinnati Church, where she served on the pastoral care team for six years. Valerie also served as a volunteer in the church’s Growth and Healing Ministry for many years.
Ordained as a chaplain with International Fellowship of Chaplain in 2007, Valerie is a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and the Spiritual Care Association. Valerie also holds the designation of Certified Grief Informed Professional (CPG). While not considered a therapist, Valerie’s expertise in grief makes her well suited to support patients and staff with grief coaching.
In another life, Valerie worked as a non-profit professional specializing in fund-raising, board and volunteer management & public relations, where she was known for her skill in consensus building. Just prior to joining Lindner Center of Hope, Valerie worked with court-referred clients as a life and career coach. She is a freelance writer and is a member of hope*writers.
