Brian Berendts, MSN, APRN-CNP, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Lindner Center of Hope
Mr. Berendts serves as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at the Lindner Center of Hope. He is an attending provider in the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program and works with outpatient adolescents (15+) and adults.
Prior to obtaining his advanced practice degree from Eastern Kentucky University, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University. Previous experience as a Registered Nurse includes work in Sleep Disorders, Psychiatric Inpatient and Residential care, and extensive time performing clinical drug research. Prior to coming to the Lindner Center of Hope, he spent time as a nurse practitioner in Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Furthermore, Mr. Berendts has considerable experience presenting and teaching at national and international conferences on a variety of healthcare related topics.
With over 30 years in healthcare, his evidence-based practice is grounded in the principles of lifestyle psychiatry, emphasizing the powerful role that daily habits play in mental health. He works collaboratively with patients to optimize core lifestyle domains—including sleep health, regular physical activity, brain-healthy nutrition, stress management, restorative relaxation, social connection, cognitive engagement, and reduction of harmful substances—recognizing these as foundational to emotional resilience and overall well-being. He views these intentional daily choices as essential in supporting and enhancing the therapeutic interventions, with medication used thoughtfully as an adjunct when clinically indicated.
He particularly enjoys working with emerging adults as they build lifelong mental health habits, and he values the therapeutic relationship with established adults navigating anxiety, mood disorders, and ADHD. As a licensed pilot himself, he also works with individuals in safety-sensitive professions, including aviation, who wish to address their mental health while maintaining their FAA licensure. His approach is confidential, aeromedically informed, and aligned with current regulatory guidelines. He offers both in-person and telehealth appointments to provide accessible, comprehensive care.
